Maria Boa Alvarado is passionate about transitions towards climate-resilient and sustainable food systems. Before joining Cornell, Maria worked as a Scaling Coordinator for CIMMYT’s Sustainable Agrifood Systems program. She researched and facilitated participatory processes in Latin America, Africa, and South Asia. In addition, she also was a visiting researcher for the Climate Change Agriculture and Food Security Program (CCAFS). Currently, Maria is a member of the board of the Agriculture and Rural Development working group of the Scaling Up Community of Practice.

Paul has been working on the Scaling Scan since 2019; from a partitioner in his expert in scaling role in GIZ CIM, he became a leading trainer for the Scan for facilitators program. He has given numerous scaling Scan workshops and trained more than 20+ facilitators in Africa and Asia certified by CIMMYT academy. The program aims to train certified workshop leaders to offer Scaling Scan sessions and interpret the results to propose scaling recommendations to relevant stakeholders. Paul is a key member of the community partitioners and contributes to developing the digital Scaling Scan. He has 15+ years of experience in the private sector managing technology. During the last 5 years, advised and supported startups going to market with their hardware technologies. Paul speaks French (native) and English.
